be merry cake

be merry cake
{strawberry butter cake}

Ingredients
  1. Duncan Hines butter recipe cake mix (don't forget the ingredients on the box to make the cake)
  2. Large pack of strawberries
  3. Cool Whip - 1 large tub
  4. Sugar
Method
  • Make cake as directed
  • Divide into two round 9 inch pans and bake as directed
  • Flip one cake upside down on the dish that you will be serving it on
  • Cut strawberries into thin slices (leave 4 of the prettiest strawberries out to use for the top of the cake)
  • Place strawberries in a bowl and sprinkle slices with lots of sugar and mix well
  • Place sugar strawberries slices in refrigerator while you start to layer the cool whip on top of the first cake
  • Place a layer of strawberries on top of the cool whip for filling (avoid placing strawberry slices on very edge, so that the juice will not seep down the sides)
  • Next, layer more cool whip over the strawberry filling
  • Add the second cake on top of filling
  • Cool whip the top and sides of the entire cake with a thick layer
  • Finally place the 4 remaining whole strawberries (or other decorative topping) on top in any design you like!

{original recipe from Desiree @ Chic Coastal Living - i modified it to one cake mix & one large tub of cool whip}

I've shared this recipe before, but this time I changed it up a bit for Christmas by adding red M&Ms to make a cheerful polka dot cake.  You can check it out with the strawberries on top here.

Merry Thursday

  5. Well I didn't know you shared this recipe before and I'm glad you shared it today because I was on Pinterst looking for easy but tasty recipes for Christmas that I haven't tried and I had a few options but this looks like the winner for me. Yum!! Thanks for sharing!

    I love that you got the soft, beautiful looking curls without heat and you could sleep in them. It's like instant beauty when you wake up!!! I am all for using as little heat as possible when I can because the heat takes such a toll on my hair. I have to find somewhere here in Hawaii that sells these. I love the idea that it's soft enough to sleep in and the final result is gorgeous!!

    I hope you are having a lovely week my dear and thank you so much for linking up to last week's Aloha Friday Blog Hop.

    If you have time, we'd love to have you come back and link up to the Aloha Friday Blog Hop if you haven't already!
